Homemade Hummus Trio
This is my first time ever making hummus. I really went for it and chose to make three different types. I did a classic, red pepper, and a spinach. These were really fast to make and way easier than I expected.
What even is hummus?
Hummus is made mostly of chickpeas which are full of vegan protein. Hummus is super versatile. Vegan or non-vegan, I am sure you have had it as a dip. It is also really good on veggie burgers, in wraps, on sandwiches, you name it.
How is it made?
Super simple. Chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, cumin, water, and whatever additions you want. Throw it all in to a food processor or blender and combine until smooth. If you do not have a good processor or blender the texture will be weird and potentially off-putting. This is the food processor I use, and it works great for such a cheap kitchen accessory.
For my two additional flavors I used the same recipe but added in red pepper for one and spinach for the other.
You can find all different flavor variations of hummus. Since this was a first time for me I chose some of the most safe flavors. But you can find super exotic recipes if you are adventurous.
A garnish will make you look like a pro
Add a garnish to make your hummus look like something out of a restaurant. I added whole roasted garlic cloves and a sprinkle of garlic powder to my classic hummus. On top of the red pepper I added some chili powder. Lastly, a simple spinach leaf on top of the spinach flavor. You can stir these in when you are ready to eat them.
Super fast to make. I heated some pita and cut them into triangles for dipping. You can use so many other things to dip too. Veggies, crackers, pita, you name it. A simple recipe to save you money or just to impress people.
